On November 30, 2022, the International Digital Asset Committee (IDAC), chaired by Won Eon-seok, Professor at Mokwon University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, led by Superintendent Seol Dong-ho, to efficiently respond to the rapidly changing digital trends and to expand education on digital assets and 'assetization capabilities.'
Digital assets refer to both tangible (content) and intangible (services) assets that individuals or institutions possess, with value. Recent popular digital content and services, such as educational content, cultural content, NFTs, and the metaverse, fall under this category of digital assets.
The MOU, conducted through an exchange of documents, covers key areas of collaboration between the two organizations, including:
▲ Promoting education on the creation and utilization of digital assets,
▲Expanding the use of digital educational content,
▲ Sharing strategies and visions for preparing for future education,
▲Building a global network for digital asset education.
Through this agreement, the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education becomes the first regional education office to focus on digital assets and assetization capabilities, marking the beginning of their efforts to prepare for future education.
Digital asset education encompasses understanding digital assets, creating digital content and services, discovering and attributing value, and utilizing the generated value and content. It adds a new dimension of 'assetization capabilities' to digital literacy education. Given that recent digital services such as NFTs, the metaverse, and Web3.0 involve the creation and utilization of assets that can be used both online and offline, digital asset education focused on assetization capabilities is expected to broadly address the rapidly evolving digital services and trends.
IDAC Chairman Won Eon-seok stated, "The core value of digital assets lies in the concept of assetization, which means the ability to turn various everyday values into one's own assets. Based on this agreement, we will strive to activate education on assetization capabilities socially and work on developing educational content and curricula.
