The International Digital Asset Committee (IDAC), chaired by Professor Won Eon-seok of Mokwon University, announced that its global youth club 'IDAC Youth Ambassadors' has expanded to include 10 schools both domestically and internationally since its establishment in 2022. Launched initially at Shattuck St. Mary's Forest City International School in Malaysia in July 2022, the Youth Ambassadors club has grown to include schools such as Incheon Mansu Middle School and Seosan Osan Elementary School, culminating in participation from Daejeon Foreign Language High School within five months.
The 'IDAC Youth Ambassadors' is a club formed around frontline students at schools, with the motto 'Changing the World with Digital Assets.' Activities include studying digital assets, cultivating 'assetization' capabilities, planning and executing community service activities using digital assets, and promoting IDAC through social media.
Activities are conducted in stages over the academic year: the first semester focuses on studying and raising awareness about digital assets and assetization concepts. In the second semester, the club members undertake a mission provided by IDAC's Education Committee and plan and execute activities using digital assets to positively impact society. To provide members with hands-on experience in creating and utilizing digital assets, IDAC sponsored an NFT creation platform.
For instance, the Daejeon Foreign Language High School club created NFTs themed around 'Protecting the Earth's Environment' and distributed them among their peers. Meanwhile, the Malaysian club created digital images as NFTs targeted at local people, spreading awareness about digital assets.
Eighteen-year-old Lim Jun-young, serving as the President of the Shattuck St. Mary's Forest City International School club, expressed, "I have always been interested in digital assets. Through the Youth Ambassadors activities, I enjoyed studying digital assets with friends and having meaningful discussions."
O Se-hyeon, an eighteen-year-old student at Daejeon Foreign Language High School, commented, "Through the Youth Ambassadors activities, it was enjoyable to mint NFTs myself and think about ways to spread messages that we consider important."
Mr. Lee Shin-jae, a teacher at Incheon Mansu Middle School, shared, "Contrary to initial expectations of student difficulties, the response has been very positive. Particularly, the Youth Ambassadors activities have greatly contributed to enhancing the school's competitiveness by seeking differentiated activities to attract new students."
Chairman Won Eon-seok of the International Digital Asset Committee remarked, "To promote healthy proliferation of digital assets, it is crucial for young people to understand digital assets from an early age and to enhance assetization capabilities through practical experiences in real life. We will strive to spread the use of digital assets among global youth, facilitating healthy usage through mutual exchange."
Looking ahead to 2023, IDAC plans to expand the number of participating schools worldwide and establish networks to sustain continuous activities in collaboration with various local community sectors.
