On February 9th, the International Digital Assets Community (IDAC), chaired by Won Eun-seok from Mokwon University, announced the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Cambodia Securities and Exchange Regulator (SERC) and WnK (represented by Kang Jaeho). The signing took place at the Daejeon Metropolitan City Council Communication Room, with the event marking the culmination of SERC's two-day visit to Daejeon for private sector exchanges.
Key figures from Cambodia directly involved in the digital asset industry participated in the MOU ceremony, including Director General Sou Socheat and Deputy Director Seang Thirith from SERC, and Secretary of State Samorn Bondith from Cambodia's Ministry of Information.
SERC oversees the comprehensive management and supervision of financial and digital asset services within Cambodia, while WnK is a local IT service company in Cambodia that develops and operates digital asset service platforms. IDAC, on the other hand, is a South Korean non-profit organization leading citizen-centric efforts to promote the spread of digital assets.
Under the agreement signed that day, the three institutions agreed to collaborate on various initiatives, including recognizing individuals or organizations contributing to the development of the digital asset industry, establishing a digital asset association within Cambodia, setting up a digital asset exchange, building platforms capable of providing diverse digital asset-related services, and fostering cooperation to advance the digital asset industry.
Director General Sou Socheat of SERC expressed his views, stating, "Although conducted in the form of an MOU, the agreement includes concrete activities. We will actively foster the Cambodian digital asset market by not only embracing excellent technologies but also policies regarding regulations and management." Kang Jaeho, the representative of WnK, commented, "Through this agreement, an environment has been created for us to proceed with the establishment of a digital asset service platform within Cambodia. We plan to lead the development of various digital asset services in Cambodia."
Chairman Won Eun-seok of the International Digital Assets Council emphasized the importance of spreading societal awareness and promoting a culture of responsible use of digital assets for the healthy development of the digital asset market. He outlined future activities aimed at establishing a sustainable digital asset market through the formation of associations and educational efforts within Cambodia.
